2/15/2023 0 Comments Dwarf fortress stone![]() Found alot of metal at onepoint focused on making things neccessary to make my fort hard to invade such as doors walls tunnels etc. How do I make stone bridges so far I'm building my workshops and foundies underground. I want to lay out patterns in my floors/walls and want to know what stones I can use for each color. Wooden bridges are better, but even on those I've occasionally seen dwarfs slip and fall. Upgrading walls to stones or bricks will significantly increase your comfort percentage. This will wildly improve the efficiency of your crafting operations, as fewer dwarf-seconds are wasted trucking finished goods over to your stockpile. The great halls of the fortress are carved from the stone underground, and are kept safe by a vast defensive system of traps, falling pits, siege engines and crossbows pointing from arrow-slits. ![]() Why? Because the materials your dwarves craft up there will drop to the ground floor, and your stockpile below. However, if you're wanting to make a tower, I DO recommend using bridges for upper floors, in particular stone bridges. I've read that the quality of the building material of your shelter has no effect on its comfort (which I haven't disprove in my gameplay), so really just leave dirt floors and you're laughing, since dirt is the most ubiquitous material in the game. Block Stockpile Simply have the stone cut into blocks then stockpiled. The stockpile needs to be placed somewhere without stones, because only one stone will be placed per tile, and will result in long hauling trips. You can make floors out of dirt, wood, stone, finished stone, brick, sand. Dwarves will carry stones out to the stockpile, and they will no longer clutter up your fortress.
